Family PowerUp holds your kids' school information, so we keep as little as we can. No ads, no selling data, no tracking. Original school emails and photos are deleted after 30 days. A parent can delete the whole family at any time.
What we keep
| About | What |
|---|---|
| Parents | Name (what the kids call you), email, phone if you add one, a password and PIN (stored scrambled, never readable). |
| Kids | First name and last initial, grade and school, a phone if they have one, a PIN, bedtimes. If you add them: birthday, clothing sizes, allergies and care notes for a sitter. |
| School | The emails you forward and papers you snap, the homework, tests and events found in them, and each kid's classes and teachers. |
| Growing | Messages between each kid and their coach, quests done, coins and badges, chores, moods, verses learned and character missions. |
| The family | Your calendar, recipes and dinner plan, to-dos, household notes, and Fan Club members' names and phones. |
| Early access | Just the email you gave us (and how many kids, if you said). The link in our email deletes it. |
How long we keep it
- Original school emails, their attachments and snapped photos: 30 days. What we found in them (the homework, the events) stays until you delete it, and so do papers kept in Papers, like a signed permission slip.
- Coach chats and call notes: 1 year.
- Sign-in links and expired sign-ins: deleted right away.
- Everything else: until you delete it. Delete everything in Setup removes your whole family at once. Backups age out on our host's own schedule.
Kids' information
Kids don't sign up on their own. A parent adds each kid and can see everything that kid does in the app, including every message with the coach. A parent can change or delete any of it, or delete the family, at any time. We collect only what the app needs to help your kids, and we never show kids ads.
The coach never mentions a diagnosis, never shames and never threatens. Anything worrying a kid writes is shown to both parents right away.
Who helps us run it
A few companies handle parts of the work for us. They get only what their part needs:
- Render hosts the app and its database in the United States.
- Resend sends our emails and receives the school emails you forward.
- Twilio carries the coach's texts and phone calls.
- Anthropic (Claude) reads school emails and snapped papers to find the homework and events, and writes the coach's replies. Under its business terms, what we send isn't used to train its models.
- The National Weather Service gets your area's map location for the forecast, nothing about your family.
- When a kid taps to talk, their phone or tablet's own speech service (Google or Apple) turns the words into text. We keep only the text.
- Videos in For Mom & Dad play from YouTube, whose own privacy policy applies when you play one.
What we don't do
- No ads, and we don't sell or share your information for anyone's marketing.
- No tracking or analytics cookies. The only cookies keep you signed in.
- The app's pages are kept out of search engines.
Keeping it safe
Everything travels encrypted. Passwords, PINs and sign-in links are stored scrambled. The database only accepts connections from our app, and sign-in has limits on guessing.
